The AWC/NAU Rotaract Club was officially chartered at a ceremonial dinner held at AWC on November 18.  AWC and Rotarian dignitaries from Yuma and the surrounding region were in attendance for this auspicious event

Tory Kuntzelman proudly represented The AWC/NAU Rotaract Club (Main Campus) during the Yuma Foothills Rotary “Hank Days” celebration in Honor of the late Foothills developer Hank Schechert by driving his Yellow 1973 Mercedes Benz, also referred to as the “Tra La La.” The event consisted of a Car Show, Parade, and Barbeque.  Jhamiel Robles, Lisa Zvingowaniseyi, and I participated as the Rotaract Queens and enjoyed waving and greeting the public during the parade. Ken Kuntzelman served as Co-Pilot and our club assisted with serving food, cleaning, and packing up. Rotaract fit in perfectly with the theme for the event, “The Future Is in Our Hands.” The purpose of the event is to raise money to benefit the community and I believe that I speak for everyone when I say that we all had a fabulous time during the event.

International Project

The most significant upcoming plan for our organization consists on a joint project with Rotaract Club of Jawalakhel Manjushree in Nepal (RCJMN). This project’s goal is to raise funds for fifteen war victim children in this country. Rotarian Hira Kaji Maharjan and RCJMN have been financially sponsoring these children; the goal of our club is to assist this noble commitment in any  possible manner. Our club’s first effort to finance our joint project will be a bake sale on Saint Patrick’s Day( March 17) at AWC Yuma main campus.  AWC Main Campus Rotaract Club is planning to perform more bake sells through the spring 2010 semester. Locations and time will be announced accordingly. If interested in donating funds to sponsor these fiftheen children in Nepal or to donate items for the pancake sales please contact Club President Shristi Shakia 646-696-6484. Any contribution is extremely appreciated.
